Located on the edge of the Southern Alps town of Barcelonette, Praloup is one of the largest ski areas in France. It's also one of the lesser known, so you'll find mostly French families ski here.

From the house, Praloup can be reached in under two hours in  good driving conditions. Lift tickets and equipment rentals are reasonably priced, and the resort has a reputation for being good value for money. It has great snow-making facilities and is family friendly. Most of the slopes are for  beginners and intermediates.

The resort was built in 1961. It has two stations at 1,500m and 1,600m, 53 lifts up to 2,600m and 165 kilometers of prepared pistes. Its longest run is 7 km. Cross-country skiers have 8km of marked trails.

When schools are on holiday in Marseille, 250 km away, the resort can get crowded. Book ski instruction in advance..
