Paul Cézanne's hat and coat still hang in the corner, near the baskets and pottery he painted a century ago. The Lauves studio where Cézanne created his last works is a 30-minute walk from the centre of Aix. There are no Cézanne paintings, but it's well worth the visit. The two-story stone building was turned into a museum in the 1950s and is open to the public For more information, call +33 (04) 42 21 06 53 or see the Atelier Cézanne website.

June 9-Sept. 17,  2006: Musee Granet, Aix-en-Provence hosts a show of about 117 of Cézanne's oil paintings and watercolours, on loan from Washington's National Gallery of Art. For more information click here
