Canoe Evasion is
one of two canoe rental places along a stretch of the Sorgue
between Fontaine de-Vaucluse and Lagnes on the D24. It's a
90-minute drive from the house, mid-way between Apt and Cavaillon, and
worth the excursion. From the meeting point, you meander 7 miles
downstream. The guided trip takes about two hours. A bus takes
you back to the Canoe Evasion parking lot.
The water is incredibly clear and freezing, but even a novice can tame the rapids. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. In the summer of 2003, the prices were 17 euros per person, 11 euros per child. Children under seven paddled for free, accompanied by an adult. For reservations phone 04 90 380-2622. If you take the trip in the morning, you can have lunch in nearby Il Sur La Sorgue. There are many cafes, and a walk to the source takes about 15 minutes. |
